Hamza Milk Farm Is Closed:

Hamza Milk Farm was opened in Bahria Town back in the month of June, this year. I wrote about its opening back then and now writing about its closing. This milk shop has closed its doors two weeks ago. The reason is same, they didn’t managed to make much customers and eventually wiped out. Moreover, they have now shifted to Gulberg-2.

Mastani By Nazia Hafeez

Bahria Town being a fast changing realm always gives us a lot more new openings of many venues on daily basis. Despite of few closings, the progression of these new openings of every type is always thrilling for the residents. Certainly, the space for clothing and apparel brands still need to be filled yet. Because, there are only few names that have entered in Bahria Town’s market and I already mentioned and anticipated that many big names are expected to open in future. Roughly, more than 30 names are operational including ladies boutiques and other renowned brands. I have updated about the opening soon of Chenone last month. It will also open in sector C, at the end of this month. You can check all the names of boutiques and clothing brands in telephone directory.

Now, ‘Mastani by Nazia Hafeez’ is another boutique is going to open in Bahria Town. This brand is owned by former Pakistani cricket team captain and opener Mohammad Hafeez’s wife. All of the clothes designing, styling, color combinations and fabric choice is managed by her. I do not have much idea about the women’s clothing, but the store has all kinds of casual, party-wear clothing and a range of women accessories. Previously, their stock was also available at ‘Tehzeeb’ which is located at MM Alam road. The interior and exterior work has completed in a very short span of time. Each segment and setting of the outlet is ready, as it can also be seen in pictures. They are ready to open this store tomorrow, But the official opening and selling for general public will start the day after tomorrow on Friday. Moreover, they have not decided about the discounts yet but there will be few discount offers for its customers at opening.

Location:

‘Mastani by Nazia Hafeez’ is located at Roshaan centre, ground floor, main boulevard commercial area Sector C.

Pacific International & Balaaj Mobiles

There are about three to four educational and tourist consultants that are operational in Bahria Town. Recently, another consultancy firm has opened by the name of ‘Pacific International’. They are specifically dealing in China, for the time being, they’re only providing consultancy for those who are interested to establish a business or want to pursuit studies in China. Later on they will also start visa services. One of the guy out there also told me that, their firm is associated with a Chinese agency and they work together. Moreover, in future, they will also start Chinese language classes.

Pacific International is located at main boulevard, commercial area Sector C, above Agha Khan Laboratory, near to Talwar Chowk.

Balaaj Mobiles:

Well, you can easily find mobile shops at every possible location. But, precisely, ‘Eagle Heights’ which is located at Sector B, near to Safari Villas, is the main spot for many mobile and laptop shops. In other words, I would say, Eagle Heights is the mini Hafeez Centre of Bahria town. Now, Balaaj Mobiles opened in Bahria Town few days ago. It has all kinds of easyloads, calling cards, mobile accessories and limited range of new phones. To check other mobile shops in Bahria town go to this link.

8 Mosques Of Bahria Town

Introduction:

There is no doubt about the fact that Bahria Town Lahore is known for many attractions as compared to any other housing society in all over Pakistan. And it changed the concept of living with its enormous and essential facilities and features. Due to all the new changes and innovations many other housing socities are now adopting the ways followed by Bahria Town. Bahria Town introduced the concept of own Electric power plant to avoid load shedding issues and all of their electrification are underground. Its Hospitals, Education facilities, Cinemas, Play Grounds, Restaurants, Living standards and all other recreational activities have attracted a lot of people in past few years.

Most Visited Places in Bahria Town:

I remember that when I was in my school life, in Lahore, we had only few places to visit at that time, like Zoo, Minar-e-Pakistan, Badshahi Mosque, Shalimar Gardens and Shahi Qilla. But now Bahria Town has been added to the list of must visit places by providing various other options. It has now become one of the best spot for many visitors to spend their leisure time. I have also witnessed that many trips of students from Lahore and other surrounding areas come to Bahria Town. The most visited place in recent days in Bahria Town, is the replica of Eiffel tower and Grand Jamya Masjid. Eiffel tower is the third most largest copy of Eiffle tower, in the world after Paris and China. Recently, Cinegold Plex has opened in Bahria Town, which is a Pakistan first 3D gold cinema with state of the art structure. It is also become a new destination for residents of Lahore. However, there are number of choices to visit in Bahria Town and everyone is  familiar with it. And the pinpointing more deeply about all the places of Bahria Town could take more time.

For now, the only thing I chose to share, are the Mosques of Bahria Town Lahore. These Mosques in Bahria Town are one of the things which have impressed me and forced me to write about them. Mostly people only talk about the Grand Jamya Masjid. And solely, Bahria Grand Jamya Mosque is a stand-out among all, but there are other seven Mosques in Town as-well. Residents of Bahria Town may be accustomed with all the Mosques but visitors may not know about them other than Grand Jamya Mosque. All of them have uniquely architectural feats, which drift your mind to visit them atleast once. With all other amenities and facilities Bahria Town, has also bring-in the idea of separate Mosque for each Sector/Block. Indeed, in every Bahria Town’s project, certainly its Mosques has become the identity of Bahria Town.

Grand Jamya Masjid:

Well, it is legit that the Grand Jamya Masjid is now the identity of Bahria Town. But not just Bahria Town Lahore, it also gathered pertinent attraction from all over the Pakistan. Eiffle Tower and Grand Jamya Masjid has been the top visited and crowd-pleaser places in Bahria Town. It was constructed in 2014 and it took more than four six years to complete. Including many artistic and inventive characteristic made it a unique masterpiece.

We all know that it is the world’s 7th largest and Pakistan’s largest Mosque. It was desigend by renowned architect ‘Nayyar Ali Dada’ and it was inaugurated on Eid-ul-Adha, 2014. Recently, I got to know about the more interesting facts which I was un-aware off. Despite of its size and structure, there are many other distinctive salient features that has made it more noticeable and historical.

  1. The main Dome of Mosque has surrounded by other twenty small Domes.
  2. It has four Minarets, each Minaret standing tall at 165 feet.
  3. All of its carpetes are customised and imported from Turkey, and there are over fifty ‘Persian Chandeliers’. Beneath the carpet, there are three layers of cushioning, making it more comfortable.
  4. Minbar of Imam is designed in such a way that, if the hall is full, it is visible from all the sides of the hall. And it made from ‘Sheesham’.
  5. The voice of Imam naturally travel through main Dome to the other surrounding Domes.
  6. Exterior consist of forty million, 2.5 inch hand-made Multani tiles, made with Multani-Matti.
  7. All of these tiles are placed manually by Craftsmen.
  8. It has the capacity to adjust Seventy thousand people at a time.
Shower Cabinets For ‘Ghussal’:

Bahria Grand Jamya Masjid has a separate shower rooms for ‘Ghussal’. It is located at basment area and has a separate entrance. With marbel tiling and fixtures, this area have a capacity to accommodate hundreds of people at a time.

Art Gallery & Women Prayer Area(first floor):

The first floor is dedicated for women’s prayer area with a separate entrance and exit. Islamic Museum is also a part on first floor, with an Islamic library and a very rare collection of Quranic collections.

Islamic Institute:

Islamic academy is located at the basement. It is fully operational. It is offering comprehensive religious courses, with all state of the art and lastest facilities.

Moreover, on every month of Ramadan, Grand Jamya Masjid accommodate more than hundred people forItikaf’. Last year a ‘Bayan’ was also given by ‘Maulana Tariq Jameel’. And about two years ago, one of the ‘Imam-e-Kaba also led Jumah prayer in Grand Jamya Masjid.

Grand Jamiya Masjid Karachi:

The construction of Grand Jamya Masjid Karachi have already started in 2015. The Grand Jamia Masjid in Bahria Town Karachi is being constructed on top of a 60 feet. And the groundbreaking ceremony has already conducted by eldest employee (73 years of age) of Bahria Town. After its completion it will become the World’s third largest Mosque after Masjid-ul-Haram and Masjid-ul-Nabvi. And it has the capacity of 800,000 ‘Namzis’. Approximately, 12 times more capacity than Lahore’s Grand Jamya Masjid. Surrounded by arch-shaped walls and it has only one Minaret standing tall at 365 feet high. And it will be protected by storms and powered by Thermal Power Plant. It includes:

  • Islamic Research Centre.
  • Islamic Museum.
  • Islamic Cultural Centre.
  • International Islamic Univeristy.

Jamya Masjid Abu Zar Ghafari:

I think that Jamya Masjid ‘Abu Zar Ghafari’ is the second most alluring and magnificent architectural Mosque. The construction of this Mosque has completed in 2016. And it is the only Mosque which is located at Sector F.

  • The Mosque have only one central Dome and one Minaret.
  • There are two fountains that are placed at one side of the Mosque.
  • It has the room for more than 7000 Namazis.
  • Whole Mosque(internally and externally) is the combination of black and white tiles, making it more mesmerising.
  • The ‘Wazu’ area of this Mosque is totally different and comfortably designed as comapred to all other Mosques.
  • A small portion of books is available at this Mosque.

Al-Falah Mosque Executive Lodges:

Al-Falah Mosque in Bahria Town is nestled between the Executive lodges and Overseas Enclave. Though, all the Mosques in Bahria Town, are impressive due to its own structure and beauty. But I have graded this Mosque on third number due to its idiosyncratic carving and calligraphy.

  • The most interesting fact about this Mosque, is that, it have the oldest ‘Holy Quran’ unique manuscripts, which are about 200-300 years old.
  • It has the capacity to accommodate more than 1500 ‘Namazis’ at a time.
  • It has two separate areas for ‘Wazu’, which can be seen in picture in front of the Mosque.

Abu Bakar Saddique(R.A) Masjid:

Abu Bakar Saddique(R.A), Mosque is the forth most attractive Mosque in Bahria Town. It is located in the middle of Umar and Gulbahar Block.

This Mosque has also the capacity of more than 3,000 Namazis at one time. The Dome and Minaret of this Mosque is simple. But on Dome ‘Kalma Tayyaba’ is written on it. The above pictures are from its back and front side. The simple colour combination of green and off-white, makes it more elegant and graceful.

Qurtaba Masjid:

Qurtaba Mosque is located at Central Avenue, Safari Villas, adjacent to Safari Mall. It looks like a small one, but it can also accomdate more than 5000 Namazis at one time.

  • This Mosuqe is attached with a lawn and it is one of the low roof Mosque, which is in round shape.
  • There is no Dome attached to this Mosque, however it only have one Minaret.
  • The most simple yet adorable Mosque in Bahria Town.

Sarwar Masjid:

Sarwar Mosque is located at CC block, Sector D, near to Mcdonalds. This Mosque can accommodate more than 2000 Namazis.

Ali Masjid:

Ali Masjid is located at Ali block, it can accommodate approximately more than 1500 Namzis at one time. This Mosuqe shows the simplicity and appealing due to its unique colour. Having only one Minaret and four small Domes.

Rafi Masjid:

Rafi Masjid is located at Rafi Block. At a  time, about 2000 Namazis  can offer prayer at this Mosque. This Msoque may not clench your attention because of its simple design and architect. But the use of white coloured tiles purely makes it visible to the entire area that surrounds it. It have only one small Dome and one square shaped Minaret.

Bahria Town is on top of the list by having maximum numbers of Mosques. each Mosque in Bahria town have a separate and spacious car parking area. All Mosques are equipped with all basic things, centrally air-conditioned, carpeted and well maintained.

Fresh Fruitly Juice

Summers has end now, but the longing for fresh juices and shakes will never end. And the health benefits of fresh jucies are evident, if they are away from any mixing and artificial flavours. Well, we have many options for fresh juices, smoothies and shakes now. But more precisely Ice-land somehow changed the concept of typical way of jucies and it is one of the longest chain in Lahore. Recently one of the Ice-land outlet has also opened in Bahria Town. There are also other few juice shops are opened in town before Ice-land. And most of the shops in Bahria Town have already been following Ice-land, like Ice-fresh, Ice-blend, Ice-chill and Ice-food etc. For all the names of these juice shops, you can have a look in our telephone directory.

Keeping this up with these juice shops in Bahria Town, a new shop by the name of ‘Fresh Fruitly Juice’ is going to open soon. Alongside juices, they will sell Shakes, Ice-cream and all kinds of Chats. I took this picture about two days ago, and they have set all the sittings, machines and counters to make a start. So, might be it will open in a day or two. I will update here about it again with more details after visiting it.

Location:

Freshly Fruity Jucie, in Bahria Town is located at ground floor, Taimoor Heights Quid block, facing Eiffle Tower sector E. Adjacent to Fri-Chicks.

Car Wash Service

There are about four to five car wash service stations that are active in Bahria Town. Two of them are owned by Bahria Town management, and all of them are not centrally located in town. You have to travel one side to the other to get your car washed. One of the option is also available by Nokaronline, you just have to call them and their representative will come to your prescribed location to wash your vehicle. And the other most suitable option is that, you can hire a worker on monthly basis by the help of Nokaronline services. To get these details click here.

Black Gold Lubricants, is operational in Bahria Town for approximately more than a year. They are giving free service of car wash. However if you get your engine oil changed, they will provide you car wash service free of cost. Now, they have started separate car wash service for only Rs 200/-. It is located at central location and most convenient for the residents of surrounding areas. Because, as I mentioned earlier all of the service stations are at boundaries of Bahria Town. Secondly, it is not crowded like others so you won’t have to spend extra time for your turn.

Location:

Black Gold Lubricants, is located at sector C, commercial zone near to main boulevard.

Al-Baik Milk & Foods

The trend of dairy shops has changed and there is no doubt in it, mostly dairy shops in Bahria Town also adopted the new patterns and standards. But, still finding a hygienic and atleast near to a pure ‘Dairy Shop’ is way too hard. And everyone is more concerned about the purity and un-mixed dairy products. Though, everyone claimes that they are selling 100% pure dairy products. However, only few names are note-worthy which are close enough providing better quality of dairy products. Organica Milk Shop, Adil Mik Shop, Hamza Milk Farm etc are the few names (haven’t tried all the options yet). You can also check the complete list of ‘Fresh Milk Shops’ in telephone directory.

Recently, in two months more than four dairy shops are opened in Bahria Town. For now, another shop has opened approximately twenty days ago, by the name of ‘Al-Baik Milk and Foods’. It is owned and manged by ‘Al-Baik Dairies’. They claimed that, their milk is totally pure and they only sell that milk which is extracted within last 24 hours. And the milk extracted, stored and packed by computerised machines. Moreover, no humans and any manual way is included in all the procedure. Alternate Routes In Bahria Town

I was and somehow still, way too stressed and disturbed by the traffic congestion issues at Shahkam Chowk. Since I am the resident of Bahria Town, the major and foremost drawback that I observed is the chaotic condition at Shahkam Chowk. Whenever I have to enter or exit Bahria Town it takes a lot of time to think, which way I should prefer (sometimes I succeed and most of the time I lose). Due to this, I also schedule and limit my unnecessary traveling if I have to use Shahkam Chowk route. And I believe that everyone is familiar with this hindrance which we have to face whether we are entering or exiting Bahria Town from Shahkam Chowk. And the struggle to pass through it could not be more real for us. In addition, residents of Punjab Co-operative society, Canal Gardens and Sukh-chan gardens are also on the same boat with Bahria Town to cope this hurdle of Shahkam Chowk.

Bahria Town Policy:

First of all, I want to mention  that Bahria Town has a separate department, of Road networks and Traffic management. This department not only work within Bahria Town but also for surrounding areas of Bahria Town. And it is one of their policy to do such voluntary projects which are beneficial for their residents and other people living near Bahria Societies.

I have also witnessed the above policy many times, where ever Bahria Town projects are located. They always try to make changes outside of Bahria Territory, it includes construction of main roads, underpasses and bridges that connects to Bahria Town.

Few Examples:

Karachi’s Clifton Flyovers and underpasses developed by Bahria Town. It is one of the Pakistan’s mega and only project that was  developed by Bahria Town itself. The project not only provide clear and smooth way for the Bahria Town Karachi residents, but also contribute to solve the enormous traffic issues for many other surrounding areas. Similar projects were undertaken at Medical & Education City near Ferozpur road, they carpeted all the roads that connect to this society. Bahria Town have done every possible thing to provide ease and convenience to its residents. Well, as a matter of fact, this policy has failed at Shahkam issue so far.

Dispute At Shahkam Bridge:

If you ever wonder why is this issue taking too much time to construct a bridge or why Bahria Town have not done something for it. Even though, it is just a matter of days for Bahria to resolve this issue. Well, last year I also heared that the Government has approved the construction of a bridge on Shahkam Chowk. However, up till now there are no signs of it, no one is sure as to when the construction will take place. My brother told me that, the bridge or underpass is surely expected and Bahria Town management is working on it. But, the real hurdle that is stopping the construction of bridge, is the Shahkam Industries. Because, the land opposite to ShahKam industries is owned by Shahkam group and they are not ready to leave it. So, strangely enough this dispute is not going to settle any time soon. Either we have to wait patiently or consider other routes that are already available.

Few Steps Taken By Bahria Town:

Unfortunately and sadly Shahkam Chowk is the main entrance of Bahria Town. Every time I cross Shahkam Chowk, it seems that there are peak-hours. In early days, like four to five years ago we did not expected that it will be some serious choking issues and overloading traffic at Shahkam Chowk. Its been years that no proper steps have been taken to resolve the traffic issue out there. Though, in the start of this year, Bahria Town management did a little work and got some space from Imeprial College side to widened and construct the canal road. However, it was not as fruitful as we thought. Secondly, the number of traffic wardens also increased, around six traffic wardens and two to three guards of Bahria Town enggaged in controlling the traffic flow. Thirdly and most importantly, Bahria Town worked on different substitute ways which helped us a lot.

Other Connecting Routes:

There is no doubt we all need clear and time saving way through Shahkam Chowk and it is the most common route for almost all the residents. And no one wants to spend their time hours just to cross this obstacle of Bottle-neck Shahkam Chowk. Well, I looked into this tormenting situation with a great interest and tried to find out every possible solution for it to share.

Luckily, there are other substitute ways in Bahria Town too, many of us are well-aware with other ways and might be some of us are not. But this information would be helpful for those who haven’t accustomed with it yet.

Jaliana Exit & Entrance:

Well, according to me Jaliana exit and entrance is one of the most convenient and easy substitute way out. I personally use this way most of the times. After traffic overloading issue at Shahkam, in start of this year, Bahria Town management made some changes on Jaliana exit. Somehow, this route works but not as much as we required. At Jaliana exit they have made few changes last year:

  1. Carpeted the road to Dream Gardens.
  2.  Opened both sides of Jaliana for exit and entrance.
  3. Placed two guards on both sides of the bridge. So that, one way traffic can move on the bridge.

Advantage of this Route:

This route is a little longer to reach canal road, but it surely saves the time that is wasted at Shahkam Chowk instead.

  • This route will connect you to Raiwind Road crossing Dream Gardens Society.
  • You can easily enter to Jubliee and Izmir Town via this route, which leads you to the main canal road.
  • Same route can be used if you are coming from Thokar via canal road to enter Bahria Town using bridge towards Jaliana.

Golf View Or Nargis Block Exit:

The second most appropriate way is Golf view exit through Nargis Block. You may face some traffic at Jaliana at certain times, but this Golf view exit is always clear and it will save much of your time. This route was basically constructed to connect Bahria Town to Bahria Orchard. And I observed that many people are now using this route from last few months.

Bahria carpeted the roads till ‘BeaconHouse National University’. A small patch of road is not constructed where you can face slow moving.

  • It will take four to five minutes after entering Nargis Block to connect you ‘Mirza Chowk’ and then ‘Adda Plot’.
  • This route will also help you to take Ring road.
  • Shaukat Khanam, Wapda Town, Valencia Society, DHA Rehbar and other surrounding areas are easily accessible through this route.

Sector F or Tipu Sultan block Exit:

Sector F or Tipu Sultan block exit is the third most suitable path. Well, this route takes a little longer to  exit from Bahria Town, but it  is quite suitable for the residents of  Sector E and Sector F. While exiting Tipu sultan block the road is extremely wide and carpeted till the end which passing through Sui Gas Housing society.

  • This route will lead  you towards ‘Jaati Umra’ and further Raiwind Road.
  • Sector F exit is only suitable for those who have to travel to the other side of the city.
  • It is one of the most clear and peaceful route with a very low traffic flow.

Sikandar Block Exit Sector F:

Sector F has another exit from Sikandar block. This passage will link you to the main Multan Road via passing through NFC 2 society.

Sukh-Chan Garden Route:

Sukh Chan Gardens has two entrances, one side is at main Canal road adjacent to Bahria Town and other gate of Sukh Chan Garden opens at main Multan Road. But, there is another way and mostly people are unfamiliar of it. That route links  you to Multan Road near to Punjab Co-operative society main gate. If you are coming from Bahria Town and take the service lane of Canal road from Sukh Chan Gate onwards. After 500 to 700 meters you can have left turn, then it will open to Multan Road. But that service road is not wide enough and is usually not clear.

EE Block Near Overseas B:

I have not used this route yet, and do not know how long it is. But this route can also be used to reach main Multan road, through EE block near to Overseas B.

Rafi Block:

There is another exit through Rafi Block, the roads are unmattled  on  this way. But now this route has closed temporarily, it was also used to reach Multan road. I have seen ‘Work in Progess’ board where road has blocked, might be this way open again after a few days.

Well, we have these seven different routes to and from Bahria Town. But they are still insufficient because most of the routes certainly gives a decent approach to Multan Road and Raiwind Road. For the time being, only Jaliana and Golf View exit are somehow substitute for the Shahkam Chowk. Nevertheless, which ever way I chose I never reached anywhere on time. So, the only hassel-free way we need is the Shahkam Chowk.

Earlier in this post I mentioned that, we heared almost a year ago about the construction of a bridge. Its been more than a year now and seen no signs of it. But the positive hope is still there and I am winding up this post by leaving a good news here. In July this year, LDA has approved a bridge/underpass for Shahkam Chowk and allocated Rs 100 Million for this project. And there are rumors the construction of bridge/underpass at Shahkam chowk will start in the start of next year.

Fri-Chicks Shifted Again

It is the second time for Fri-Chicks, they moved again at another location within the Bahria Town. It first opened in Bahria Town about three years ago, and within three years they have already changed three different locations.

First location:

In 2014, Fri-Chicks opened its first branch in Umer Block main road, commercial area, near second entrance of Safari Villas.

Second location:

In start of this year, they moved to the second location, at sector E, facing Eiffle Tower.

Current location:

Fri-Chicks is still facing Eiffle Tower and located at Quid Block, Sector E. But now they shifted to two buildings before the previous one.

Fri-Chicks changed its first location from Umer Block to Sector E, due to failing enough customer’s attraction. The reason of again changing its location is the settlement and rent issues with the building owner.
